Get Alerted the Moment a Supplier Changes Their Prices

An n8n workflow that periodically fetches your suppliers' price lists, compares them to the last known prices, and alerts you to any increases or drops with the exact delta — so cost creep never silently erodes your margins and you can renegotiate or re-price in time.

  1. 1

    Fetch current prices

A Schedule Trigger (daily/weekly) and an HTTP Request pull the supplier's current price list.

  2. 2

    Compare to last snapshot

A Code node diffs each item against the stored price and computes the percentage change, keeping anything over your threshold.

  3. 3

    Alert on changes

A Slack node posts each changed item with old price, new price and delta so procurement can react.

  4. 4

    Update the snapshot

A Google Sheets update writes the new prices as the baseline for next time, so you only ever alert on genuine changes.

Frequently asked questions

Where do supplier prices come from?

A supplier API, a price-list URL, or a shared Google Sheet they update. The workflow reads the current prices and compares to a stored snapshot. Even suppliers who just email a spreadsheet can be covered by parsing that file into the same table.

Why alert on drops too, not just increases?

Price drops are opportunities — to lower your own prices competitively or improve margin. Both directions matter, so the alert reports any change over a small threshold and lets you decide what to do with it.
